MYTH MAKING - CITY ON A HILL | Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition
We believe that cities are generated by their cultural history and local geography. Given the hypothesis of the competition, our proposal decided not to invent a cultural history but rather focused on suggesting an invented geography. The city is located between three volcanoes and two lakes. This geography is typical of some cities that develop along a river flowing through the valley. The morphology of the proposed city is based on a 36m2 man-made grid superimposed over the topography. The straitjacket of the gridiron acts like a stamp. Speculations arise where the grid and the natural geography of the land collide.
