Privitizor

PRIVITIZOR | Harvard GSD | Cambridge | MA

The Privitizor is an art piece; it also a ‘machine’ used to cover/hide/protect/secure the user while working at a table much like a room/cell/hat/umbrella provides certain privacy and security. Although the piece must be considered to work mainly within its context – Gund Hall, at the Harvard Graduate School of Design – modifications in the design have been made in order allow usage in various locales. The dimensions of the piece are as small as possible, in order to assure that the user is always conscious of the fact that he or she is being ‘privatized’. The intent is to make an object that serves a particular function, and because of its label as art will incite an ideological underpinning within the user.
