URBAN INFILL HOUSING - TYPE 6 - The Beetle | Melrose Heights | Miami | FL
This project is a Duplex home. Rather than the duplex units laid out side by side, the units are situated at the front and rear of the lot. From the street the duplex appears as one home. The scheme started as a rectangular plan and then was mirrored and shifted. This shift allowed for added privacy as well as the formation of side gardens for each unit and a forecourt. The ground floor houses the kitchen, bathrooms, a bedroom, and living and dining space. The second floor houses the gameroom/library, two bedrooms and bathrooms. A double height volume links the living, dining with the gameroom/library socially and visibly, spaces that would otherwise be separate.
